Acadia Parish Assessor Launches Online
Taxroll Web Search

Crowley, LA, July 12, 2004- The Acadia Parish Tax Assessor’s office has launched its first online tax roll web search. This new website (www.acadiaassessor.org) will allow the public access to taxroll records online with the ability to search by owner name, subdivision, address, or parcel number. This will allow other public offices and private citizens the opportunity to view taxroll records in Acadia Parish.

This development is another progressive move for Acadia Parish Assessor Russel Benoit. “We are so excited about giving the public online access to our office” says Benoit, “we think it is important that we become more accessible to them”. In Russel’s 20 years in the Assessor’s office he has implemented many technological advances for the Acadia Parish Assessor’s Office; such as the transition from addressographs to computers, moving into computerized mapping (GIS) and using software such as AIS™ (Assessor Information System) to better manage the Assessor’s office.

The website also has available information about how taxes are assessed and frequently asked questions regarding the Assessor’s office. As a community service, the website highlights community news, interests and events that are taking place in Acadia Parish. The Assessor’s office plans to use the website as a tool to better communicate with the citizens of Acadia Parish. With the ability to make announcements, online access to newly released information is instant.

The Acadia Parish Assessor’s website was developed by Software & Services in Shreveport, LA. “It has been a real pleasure to work with the Acadia Parish Assessor’s Office and be a part of their continuing effort to give back to the community” says Lorraine Ruddy, website project manager at Software & Services. “Software & Services was able to give us the personal treatment we needed to complete this project and fulfill our goals,” said Nancy Hayes, Acadia Parish Deputy Assessor. Software & Services specializes in providing software and services to local government entities. They have been a provider of technology to local government for the past 25 years.
